Extraction
This poor guy had a tooth pulled on Friday. It took 11 hours. He was shook up and it made us really upset.
A few months ago, Gren was chewing on a rawhide treat. He started to cough and I saw dark red blood on the floor that drooled out of his mouth. I figured he gouged his gum which caused it to bleed. I was wrong.
A couple weeks ago, Gren had to go to the vet because his poor doggy allergies took over. He was miserable. The veterinarian noticed him rubbing the left side of his face on the ground, and I said "Yea, he does that to itch his beard." She took a look in his mouth and said that he may be itching his beard, but he also had a big crack in his tooth that went up underneath the gum. If it wasn't pulled, food could cause a massive infection if it got in the crack. So we made the appointment for 10/14/2012.
When we picked him up, he was still so drugged up he was having trouble walking. When we got him into the car he had a hard time sitting upright in the seat. It was so sad. It's just like little babies who cry to tell you something is wrong and leave the mommas and the papas to figure it out. Gren was in pain and we couldn't ease it.
We got home and he walked right up to his dog bed and laid down and didn't get up for the rest of the night.
That Friday really struck me that I needed to start giving Gren more of my attention and make him a bigger spot in our new lives. I felt pretty guilty and terrible for not being able to give him as much attention as I used to (pre-baby), but there was absolutely nothing I could do about it for those first weeks. Those weeks were so hard. I'm healed up and feel like I have a pretty good routine down with Levi, so Gren is becoming a higher priority again. Man do I still feel bad for that guy though.
