So I've been doing a bit of research on sleep training for children. I feel that I am pretty patient with Levi (probably the only person I can admit that I am patient with). However, once my head hits the pillow for over 45 minutes...I'm not pleasant once someone disturbs my sleep. No matter how cute that little someone might be - I'm still tired.
Last night Dave and I were thinking and thinking and came up with a plan. Actually Dr. Sears came up with a lovely plan and we gave it a whirl. We woke up this morning feeling rested. Levi woke up a few times, but just wanted a belly full of milk, then went back to sleep.
I don't think I could handle the 'Cry It Out' method of sleep training so we went with the non-cry version, which is all about routines. You do the same few things before bedtime each evening and your baby will recognize these clues to get sleepy / know it's time for bed. Our routine consisted of getting a fresh diaper, being swaddled, and a kiss. After doing these three things, Levi laid in his crib and babbled and wiggled until his eyes were heavy. He started to fus a bit so I picked him up, sat down in the rocker and fed him until he was asleep then set him in his crib.
It seemed to work last night. Let's see how the rest of the weeks go!
So sweet! I love hearing about you & Levi! :-)
